Parking Guidance System for Intelligent Parking Lot of Binhe Times

Background
       When returning to large parking lots of places such as shopping centers, drivers tend to get lost and fail to find their cars because of their large areas, similar conditions and markers, confusing directions, etc. In the intelligent parking guidance system (‘System’), a guidance screen is provided for each junction to show directions and parking space of a parking lot to guide cars to enter unoccupied parking space quickly and help drivers find proper parking lots and parking space as soon as possible. In this way, the system avoids drivers’ failure in finding parking lots or parking space and their scrambling for parking space and traffic jams in and out of parking lots as well, thus enhancing the operation efficiency of parking lots, guaranteeing good services and a pleasant feeling for drivers, avoiding the disadvantages of manual management and improving images of parking lot property companies.

Overview 
        The system is an efficient intelligent management system for providing parking space information acquisition, processing and release and parking space guidance for large and medium-sized parking lots. It mainly includes a data acquisition system, a network control system, an information release system and a reverse car tracking system.

Data acquisition system: It mainly includes a parking space detector (including an ultrasonic detector and a camera), a node controller and a video node controller. It is used for acquiring and uploading car data. 
 
Network control system: It mainly includes a video server, a switch and a background monitoring system. It is used for analyzing the data acquired and displaying them on the corresponding output equipment.
 
Information release system: It mainly includes a remaining parking space screen, a parking guidance screen and a parking space reservation screen. It is used for displaying a parking lot’s total remaining parking space, remaining parking space of each area of the parking lot, driving directions of cars, the number and occupied or unoccupied state of each parking space, etc.
 
Reverse car tracking system: It mainly includes a locator, a query station and a set of query software. It is used for querying by license plate number, parking space number or another content and displaying the best route of car tracking.

Ultrasonic parking space detection
Above each parking space, an ultrasonic parking space detector is installed to give off an ultrasonic wave to detect the reflected waves of the car top and the ground to detect whether there is a car in the parking space or not correctly. Parking information of all the parking space is then transmitted to a control computer with help of network lines. Finally, the control computer processes the guidance signals through related software and transmits them to guidance indicators to guide drivers to find unoccupied parking space quickly. 
 

Intelligent camera detection
Cameras acquire data from parking space with help of an Ethernet, automatically identify the occupied or unoccupied states of parking space and the license plate numbers of cars and upload the parking space information to the video node server in real time. The central controller then processes the parking space information and releases it to related guidance screens.
 

System requirements

Storage and transmission of pictures and high-definition playback of video images;
Optical-fiber or wireless signal transmission for meeting the requirement for long-distance, efficient and anti-interference transmission;  
Network platform management, real-time monitoring data, centralized management and remote monitoring and operation through networks;
 Full consideration of the future development needs or, in other words, reservation of a margin for capacity expansion and upgrading, in design;   
Energy saving and environment-friendliness: low power consumption because of the limited mode of power supply

Introduction to the proposal
The proposal is based on 1000Mbps switches. The intelligent parking lot of Binhe Times has three storeys in all which are all basements. It uses 27 industrial Ethernet switches as information transmission carriers with 100Mbps access and 1000Mbps uplink.

The front-end detection terminal cameras are connected to a video server (a special device for the encoding and transmission of audio and video data, mainly including an audio and video encoder, a network port, an audio/video port, a RS422/RS485 serial port and a RS232 serial port) through network cables. The guidance screens are connected to the video server through RS485 buses; the video server acquires information from the front-end detection terminal cameras and transmits it to the access switches; the enquiry terminals on each storey are connected to the corresponding switches directly through network cables in accordance with the on-site need; all the front-end switches are uplinked to the core switch in the monitoring center through a 1000Mbps bandwidth to ensure real-time, reliable and stable acquisition of videos and other data.

The front-end switches are IES2010-2GS (including eight 100Mbps electrical ports and two 1000Mbps optical ports) ones and IES3020-4GS (sixteen 100Mbps electrical ports and four 1000Mbps optical ports) ones, which are arranged in accordance with the detection points (eight IES3020-4GS front-end switches for basement 1, nine IES2010-2GS front-end switches for basement 2 and ten IES3020-4GS front-end switches for basement 3). The barrier gate switches are connected with devices such as barrier gates, monitoring cameras and host computers of sentry box.

The monitoring center uses a 3One CS9348GS 1000Mbps core switch for the core processing of data.

Product introduction
IES2010-2GS switch is an industrial and unmanaged 1000Mbps Ethernet switch supporting eight 10/100M Ethernet RJ45 ports and two SFP 1000Mbps slots. It has no fan but low power consumption, a protection grade of IP40 and a corrugated high-strength metal shell, so it is more stable in operation. It complies with related FCC and CE standards and the design requirements of industrial level 4. IES3020-4GS-P(12/48VDC) is an industrial and unmanaged Ethernet switch with high performance and cost efficiency and a 1000Mbps optical port which has sixteen 10Base-T/100Base-TX Ethernet electrical ports and four SFP slot ports. All of its electrical ports support automatic flow control, a full-duplex mode, a half-duplex mode and MDI/MDI-X self-adaption. It adopts standard industrial design and all of its parts are industrial-level ones; it has no fan but a low power consumption, making it applicable to diversified industrial occasions and highly reliable.
